The Project

Indaba is a family-owned coffee shop well known in the Inland Northwest for its quality beans they roast in-house that are ethically sourced. Their coffee shops emphasize creating community gathering spaces and they use local artists for their decor and branding. I was approached about creating a label for a limited edition coffee roast inspired by Valentine’s Day.

My Contribution

For this limited edition Valentine’s Day roast, I wanted to evoke a romantic yet playful feel to capture the essence of the holiday while also reflecting the colors of spring. To do this I drew the lettering to feel like a ribbon, swirling to create the letters that the two cuddling birds could sit on. I then used soft, floaty feathers to frame the birds and lettering. I also created iconography for different coffee flavor notes with a hand-drawn feel to match the look of non-seasonal coffee bags.
